Intel Records Biggest Drop in Xeon CPU Sales in 13 Years
Intel's latest financial report reveals that its server processor segment (Xeon) has experienced its biggest decline in 13 years. This downward trend began in 2022 and nearly reached its lowest point in 2024. The Blue Team ended last year with fewer than one million units shipped.
Compared to 2020, when Intel Xeon CPU shipments peaked, 2024 closed with less than half of the approximately 1.7 million units shipped at that time.
During the meeting where Intel presented these results, interim co-CEO Michelle Johnston admitted that the company is lagging behind its rival AMD with its EPYC processors:
"So, I think it wouldn’t be unreasonable for me to put a data center product out there if it meant that I would hit the right product, the right market window, and the right performance for my customers."
